3D Models for Drill Storage and Bit Organizers

This collection gathers 3D models that keep drills, bits and step drills in order: modular grid trays, indexed holders, enclosed boxes and mounts for cordless tools. Most of them are made for 3D printing at home and shared as STL files. It helps if you want a drawer insert sized to your own set instead of a generic case. «3D Models for Drill Storage and Bit Organizers»

The models differ mainly in how they hold the tool. Grid-based organizers sit inside a drawer and can be combined with other inserts of the same system; indexed holders take one drill per hole and are labelled by diameter; enclosed boxes close over step drills, endmills or reamers and protect the cutting edges. Mounts are a separate group: they fix a cordless drill or its battery to a wall, a panel or the side of a case.

Before printing, measure the shank diameter and the length of the longest drill you plan to store, then compare those numbers with the dimensions the author lists. Check how many parts the model has, whether it is split for a smaller build plate, and whether the author states that supports are needed. The material and settings on the model page matter as well, since thin walls and tight holes behave differently in PLA and PETG. Photos of real prints show how the holes and clips actually come out.

If a search brings too few results, try other words for the same thing: bit holder, tool tray, drawer insert, socket organizer, drill index or wall mount. Adding a system name such as gridfinity, or a tool type such as step drill, endmill or reamer, narrows the list quickly. Related topics worth opening are tap and screwdriver bit storage, battery mounts and cable coiling, since these often share the same modular grid.

FAQ

Häufige Fragen

What measurements should I take before printing a drill holder?
Note the shank diameter of every drill in the set, the length of the longest one and the height of the drawer or shelf where the holder will go. Compare these with the dimensions listed on the model page and with the hole sizes shown in the preview images.
Do drill storage models usually need supports?
It depends on the shape. Flat trays with vertical holes often print without them, while boxes with overhangs, clips or side mounts may need them. The author usually notes this in the description or shows the orientation in a sliced preview.
Why do so many drill storage models use a grid system?
Grid systems give a fixed base size, so a drill holder can sit next to other inserts in the same drawer and be rearranged later. That is why the same footprint appears across trays, boxes and bit holders.
Can a holder be scaled to fit a different drill size?
Scaling changes every dimension, including wall thickness and the fit between parts, so holes may end up too tight or too loose. It is safer to look for a version of the model that already lists the diameter range you need.
