Description

Hello fellow makers and educators! 👋

Welcome to Part 6 of my ongoing series of 3D-printed skulls designed for biology and evolution classes at our local high school (Gymnasium). 🧬🏫

For this addition to our evolutionary timeline, we are looking at one of the most famous early hominins: Australopithecus afarensis! Best known worldwide by the famous fossil specimen "Lucy," this species is incredibly important for teaching paleoanthropology. It perfectly illustrates a crucial transitional stage in human evolution—displaying bipedalism (walking upright) while still retaining a relatively small, ape-like braincase and a strongly projecting facial structure (prognathism). 🔬👣 This makes it an absolute must-have visual aid for comparing with both earlier apes and later Homo species!

To help other teachers, parents, and paleo-enthusiasts build their own museum-quality timelines, I am sharing my optimized 3D print profiles right here! 🖨️✨ Do not be afraid, the erros in nose area are solved in the printprofiles that are uploaded here!

What's Included:

A. afarensis Cranium: Highly detailed and optimized for clean, reliable printing. 🧠 Mandible (Jawbone): Scaled to fit perfectly with the upper skull for a complete look. 🦷 Custom Display Stand: A sturdy, fitted pedestal (complete with a name tag) to showcase the skull beautifully on any teacher's desk or classroom shelf. 🏛️

Printing Tips:

I highly recommend using a matte PLA or bone-colored filament to give it that authentic, fossilized aesthetic! 🦴 For optimal results use my printprofile. Low printtime, low filament use, high details! Comment with a tag on me if you need the printprofile for another printer! ⚙️
