Description

Boost Me Please boost if you like my model! This is a decorative sword meant to show off the capabilities of additive manufacturing. The blades are rather fragile (2 walls thick) and will break if you are rough with it. Please let me know if you have any questions or troubles with the print!

This model is a new and improved version of my original Collapsible Twisting Sword. Unlike the original, this model is NOT print-in-place and requires the user to print each component and assemble them together. Many individuals had issues printing the original due to the tall and thin parts wobbling higher up which caused links to potentially fuse and not slide out as far or as smooth. In this model, each blade is supported to ensure it does not tip over or have any layer shifts. The ability to assembly the sword also has the added benefit of being able to replace a single blade link if one breaks.

Happy printing and I am looking forward to seeing your makes!

Be careful when removing the supports on the blades. Remove any blobs on the blades afterwards to help the blades exit smoothly.

Guides and print profiles

Print profiles and steps

0.2mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill

Blades Scaled Up 1.5% This is for those who have issues with the blades completely coming out of the handle. This is due to the plastic shrinking past the point of the built in tolerances. This profile scales them up by 1.5%. The increase size will help them remain in the handle.

P2S, P1S|0.2mm layer|2 walls|7% infill - Support-Free Functionality Protocol: - The Upgrade:  All supports have been  removed . - Result:  This is a  critical functional enhancement . Eliminating supports guarantees that the intricate  articulation joints remain perfectly free of filament residue , ensuring the sword twists and collapses smoothly and reliably upon completion without any post-print cleanup. - Warp-Free Dual Brim Stability Protocol: - The Upgrade:  Both  Internal and External Brims  were strategically applied, and speeds were adjusted for the initial layers. - Result:  This is a  critical reliability upgrade  for tall, thin prints. The dual brim  maximizes base adhesion and prevents corner lift/warping  during the crucial first layers, dramatically increasing the print success rate and ensuring the final sword remains straight. - Clean-Flow Protocol for Articulation Reliability: - The Upgrade:  Print speeds and retractions were precisely calibrated for the P2S platform. - Result:  This tuning is focused on achieving a  clean-flow state  to minimize stringing and material residue. This is  non-negotiable for an articulated model  and guarantees the smooth, unhindered movement of the twisting segments. - Optimized Structural Efficiency: - The Upgrade:  Infill set to an appropriate density (Gyroid). - Result:  Gyroid provides excellent structural stability for the internal segments. The profile's overall tuning ensures the  fastest possible total print time  (due to the high-flow P2S optimization) while maintaining the necessary dimensional accuracy for the mechanism.

A1 Mini compatible, -20% size ( 90cm handle + blade ) For A1 mini printer owners, here's the compatible version. I've reduced it to fit the maximum height of the A1 mini, which is 180mm for each element, thus reducing the size by 20%.

Rest assured, it still makes a superb 90cm sword.
