Description

This is a replacement part for the Milwaukee M18 BLLT 18V Brushless Line Trimmer Head.

I quite often use my trimmer to cut weeds in a paving, edges of lawns etc, and the trimmer head wears out really quickly. Cost of replacing whole head is around £30 so why not print one?

The part here is the one that gets worn down, not the whole head. Please see the video at the bottom to see how to replace it.

There's two versions. One to be simply printed - the more walls/infill the stronger it will be and will last the longest. Second one is with special pockets  to be filled with epoxy resin. As we know prints are weakest at the layer lines - filling those pockets with epoxy binds everything making it super strong.

If you simply print it with PLA (5 walls, 15% infill), it'll last a month or two of fairly heavy work (I am a gardener). When printed with ABS and filled with epoxy - a lot longer. I am around a 6month mark and there's few good more month in it.

Cost of filament is (depending how much you pay for a spool etc) around £2.50 so a fraction of a whole head. I find that even if I had to print one every month or two it's still worth it.

If you want to go for epoxy version, because it's a bit messy to do, I would advise to print two or three pieces (or more), mix a bit of epoxy (it doesn't need a lot) and use a syringe to fill the pockets (second to last photo)

If you can't push metal eyelets by hand, use pliers and gently squeeze in/push with pliers (last photo)

As it's a part that will spin at very high speeds please be careful, check for any damage often and replace when needed. I didn't have any problems, part never came apart or anything like that, but I can't take any responsibility for any damage to tools or people. Print and use at your own risk!

Enjoy!
