Description

I designed this small stylized helicopter with a very simple idea in mind: to create something that anyone could easily print, but above all something capable of sparking a child’s imagination.

This model was created for the contest connected to the Pieksekisten project, a wonderful charity initiative supporting children undergoing pediatric oncology treatment in Augsburg, Germany.

After difficult treatments, children receive a small box, a “Pieksekiste”, filled with little items meant to bring comfort and a moment of lightness.

Knowing that one of my creations could be part of that box is what inspired me to participate.

While designing this helicopter, I focused on making it as accessible as possible.

I prepared different print profiles to allow both multicolor versions for those using AMS, and single-color versions for those who don’t.

The size is also flexible: it can be printed from about 150 mm up to 300 mm without losing the balance of the design.

Assembly was designed to be simple and approachable for everyone.

In the NO AMS version, a small amount of glue can be used, but it also works perfectly with snap-fit connections.

Similarly, the multicolor version only requires minimal glue, just enough to ensure the model is sturdy and durable.

But more than anything, this is not just an object. I like to imagine a child picking it up and starting to play, creating stories and rescue missions, maybe imagining themselves as the pilot of a rescue helicopter, like a firefighter. And who knows… maybe a simple toy like this could inspire the dream of becoming a future hero, someone who helps others.

This contest is not just a creative challenge, but a real opportunity to do something meaningful. If this little helicopter can bring even a single smile, then it has already done its job ❤️

⚠️ Important Note / Disclaimer

The main and tail rotors are designed to rotate.

However, once the print is finished, the tolerance and smoothness of the movement depend heavily on your printer's calibration .

Please manually rotate the propellers several times after printing.

This will help settle the material and ensure the movement becomes smooth and fluid.
