A fully parametric license plate frame designed in OpenSCAD. Customize the text, dimensions, and style to make it your own, then print it in pieces that snap together with no glue or hardware required.

Features

- Custom text on top and bottom rails, with raised or flush embedded text modes - Adjustable text depth , 0.6 mm by default, plus customizable font, size, color, and position - Snap-together assembly using 45° dovetail tongue-and-groove joints, no glue needed - Fits any build plate , enter your plate dimensions and the layout adapts automatically: - Large plates (≥ frame size): prints as an assembled preview - Medium plates (e.g. 256 mm): 4-piece diagonal layout fits everything on one plate - Small plates (e.g. 220 mm and below): top and bottom rails automatically split in half with dovetail joints, laid out upright in rows - Adjustable split offset , shift the top and bottom split points independently to avoid cutting through your text - Rounded corners with configurable radius and outer edge fillet - Tapered top rail , thicker centre section for text, thinner sides for mounting holes - Slotted mounting holes for easy alignment on the vehicle

Customizable Parameters

- Frame width, height, rail sizes, and thickness - Top and bottom text content, font, size, color, depth, and vertical offset - Raised or embedded text treatment - Build plate dimensions (auto-selects the best print layout) - Split joint dimensions and tolerances - Mounting hole diameter and slot width - Corner radius and fillet size

Printing Tips

- Print flat on the bed, all pieces are 2 mm thick by default - No supports needed - The dovetail joints are designed with 0.2 mm clearance per side, adjust snap_tol if your printer runs tight or loose - Use the MakerWorld Customizer to tweak all parameters with a GUI - Choose raised for text above the frame surface or embedded for recessed text that finishes flush with the surface - Export individual pieces by setting show to top, bottom, left, right, or the split variants (top_left, top_right, bottom_left, bottom_right) - Download the optimized print profile from this page, delete the sample models off the plate, and import your STL into it

Assembly

Press the side piece tongues down into the grooves on the top and bottom rails. The 45 degree dovetail profile locks the joint vertically, narrow at the bottom, wider at the top, so the pieces click in and stay put.
