Description

Boost Me If this model is useful for your workshop, prototypes, hose routing or custom threaded connections, a Boost would be greatly appreciated.

It helps me keep developing practical, tested and fully parametric functional parts. Description

This is the Inch Preset Version of a fully parametric straight barbed hose-to-thread adapter with automatic engraved identification and an adjustable external thread fit .

A dedicated THREAD_FIT parameter allows the user to compensate for printer, filament and slicer tolerances without changing the selected nominal UNC thread.

For example, a 1/2-13 UNC fitting remains a 1/2-13 UNC fitting, while the generated male thread can be reduced slightly for smoother assembly with the real mating component.

This is especially useful because printed male threads can become too tight due to:

- extrusion width - slight overextrusion - filament dimensional variation - material shrinkage - outer-wall flow - printer calibration - mating-thread tolerance Each generated fitting also includes automatic identification engraved directly on the hexagonal body:

- the selected nominal UNC thread diameter on one face, for example 3/4" - the selected hose diameter on an adjacent face, for example Ø1/2" The full thread designation, including TPI and UNC series, remains selected in the Customizer.

The shorter engraved labels remain readable even on smaller hexagonal bodies.

The labels update automatically whenever the Customizer parameters are changed.

This makes every printed fitting immediately identifiable, even after it has been removed from its storage box or mixed with other adapters.

There is no need to manually add text, rename the model or measure the fitting after printing.

The model is designed to connect a flexible rubber, silicone or soft PVC hose to a male UNC threaded port.

It combines five main functional features:

- a parametric barbed hose connection - an imperial hexagonal wrench section - an external UNC male thread - adjustable printed thread clearance through THREAD_FIT - automatic engraved size identification All main dimensions are selected through practical fractional-inch presets.

The user does not need to manually convert fractions into decimal inches or millimeters.

The model can be customized directly in OpenSCAD / MakerWorld Customizer by selecting only seven essential parameters.

The remaining technical dimensions are calculated automatically, including:

- barb height - number of barbs - thread diameter - thread pitch from TPI - thread length - internal passage - minimum wall thickness - minimum hexagonal size - engraved thread label - engraved hose diameter label - external thread clearance compensation The geometry is generated internally in millimeters, while the Customizer displays familiar fractional-inch values.

The complete adapter maintains a minimum radial wall thickness of 1.8 mm beneath the barb roots, around the thread root and across the hexagonal faces.

Main Unique Features

Adjustable External Thread Fit

THREAD_FIT allows the external male UNC thread diameter to be reduced independently from the selected thread preset.

The selected nominal thread and TPI do not change.

Example:

THREAD_SIZE = 1/2-13 UNC THREAD_FIT = 0.20 mm

The fitting remains:

1/2-13 UNC

but the generated external thread crest diameter is reduced by approximately:

0.20 mm

This allows the user to compensate for:

- printer overextrusion - filament dimensional variation - material shrinkage - outer-wall flow - slicer compensation - different female-thread tolerances Recommended starting value:

THREAD_FIT = 0.20 mm

Suggested use:

THREAD_FIT Result

0.00 mm Nominal CAD geometry

0.10 mm Slightly freer fit

0.20 mm Recommended general starting value

0.30 mm Freer printed fit

0.40 mm Strong compensation for oversized prints
