Description

ESP32 Controller Enclosure with 3 Individual Hot-Swappable Relays

Description

This enclosure is designed to provide a compact, professional, and easy-to-maintain housing for an ESP32 DevKit , three individual plug-in relays , and screw terminal connections. It is ideal for home automation, industrial control, and custom IoT projects.

Unlike traditional relay boards, this design uses three separate relays . Each relay can be replaced individually without replacing the complete assembly, making maintenance quicker, more cost-effective, and more convenient.

One of the unique features of this enclosure is its hot-swappable relay design , allowing individual relay replacement without disassembling the complete controller.

The enclosure also includes a mechanical safety interlock . When the power connector is plugged in, the enclosure cannot be opened. This helps reduce accidental access to the electronics while the unit is connected to power. Always disconnect the power supply before servicing the enclosure.

The ESP32 remains easily accessible through the integrated USB opening, making firmware updates simple without dismantling the enclosure.

- Layer Height: 0.20 mm - Walls: 4 - Infill: 20–30% Gyroid - Supports: Not Required - Material: PLA, PETG, ASA or ABS Assembly

Install the ESP32, relays, and terminal blocks using standard M3 hardware. Route the wiring through the cable openings and connect the power supply.

The enclosure is designed so that relays can be replaced individually, minimizing maintenance time.

⚠️ Programming Tip

Avoid using GPIO 2 for relay control whenever possible.

GPIO 2 is a boot strapping pin on the ESP32. Using it to control a relay may interfere with the boot or programming process.

For the best experience, assign the relays to other available GPIO pins.

If you decide to use GPIO 2 , you may need to disconnect the relay or temporarily remove the ESP32 from the enclosure before uploading new firmware , depending on your hardware configuration.

⚠️ Safety Notice

This enclosure includes a mechanical interlock that prevents the lid from being removed while the power connector is inserted. This feature is intended to reduce accidental access to energized electronics.

Always disconnect the power supply before opening or servicing the enclosure.
