Description

After receiving several requests for a screw-mounted version, I decided to create one. It keeps the same compact print-in-place design and fast print time as the original , while offering a stronger and more permanent mounting option for desks, workbenches, and other fixed installations.

Choose the Version That Fits Your Needs

Screw Mount — this model Compact and securely installed using a single wood screw. Ideal for standard cables and everyday organization.

Adhesive Mount The same compact design with fast installation using double-sided tape.

Heavy Duty Version A larger and substantially reinforced version with a stronger hinge, firmer latch, thicker-cable capacity, and both adhesive and screw-mount options included.

Printing Instructions

Small print-in-place mechanism. Proper extrusion matters.

- Material: PLA recommended - Supports: Not required - Settings: Default profiles work

Mounting

Attach the holder to the side of a desk or any suitable surface using a wood screw.

The mounting hole is designed for 4 mm screws with countersunk heads up to approximately 7 mm in diameter , as shown in the photos.

A short screw is usually all that's needed, since the holder and cable are lightweight and require very little holding force.

Choosing the Right Profile (Recommended)

Start with the Official Profile .

If needed:

- Too tight (hard to close / stuck) → use Loose Fit profile - Too loose (weak latch / opens too easily) → use Tight Fit profile These profiles already compensate for small extrusion variations.

Fine Tuning (Optional)

This is a compact precision mechanism — extrusion accuracy directly affects performance.

If you prefer manual adjustment:

- Too tight → reduce Flow Ratio slightly - Too loose → increase Flow Ratio slightly Adjust in small steps (±0.05) and reprint if needed.

Each filament behaves differently — even within the same spool over time.

A visual guide is included in the image gallery.

👉 This model can also be used as a quick real-world flow calibration test.

First Use

The first openings may feel firm — this is normal. Open and close a few times to break in the mechanism.

Note

This mechanism is designed to work best when mounted. It may feel stiff when handled by hand, but once fixed in place it opens easily and performs as intended.

Description

Tired of adhesive cable clips peeling off over time? This screw-mounted version of the Print-in-Place Cable Holder offers the same compact design, smooth integrated hinge, and fast 12-minute print as the original , now with a more permanent mounting solution for desks, workbenches, cabinets, shelves, and other fixed installations.

Designed as a true print-in-place model, it comes off the printer fully assembled with no supports, no additional hardware for the mechanism, and no assembly required. Simply print, secure it with a single countersunk wood screw, and it's ready to keep your cables organized and easy to access.

The integrated latch keeps the cable securely in place while still allowing quick opening whenever you need to add, remove, or replace a cable. The compact footprint makes it suitable for USB, USB-C, charging cables, power cords, and many other everyday cables without taking up unnecessary space.

The mounting hole is designed for standard 4 mm countersunk screws with heads up to approximately 7 mm in diameter. Since both the holder and the cables are lightweight, a short wood screw is typically all that's needed for a secure installation.

Like the original version, this model was designed with reliable printing in mind. The hinge prints already assembled, requires no supports, and has been tested extensively to provide smooth operation while keeping print time and material usage to a minimum.

Whether you're organizing a clean desk setup, workshop, gaming station, office, maker space, or home workspace, this holder provides a simple and durable cable management solution that stays firmly in place without relying on adhesives.

If you prefer a removable installation, be sure to check out the original adhesive-mounted version of this Cable Holder. Both versions share the same print-in-place mechanism, allowing you to choose the mounting method that best fits your workspace.

Perfect for makers looking for a compact cable organizer, screw-mounted cable clip, desk cable holder, cable management accessory, USB cable holder, charging cable organizer, workshop organization tool, home office accessory, print-in-place functional print, and fast 3D printable utility. This design combines clean aesthetics, practical functionality, and reliable everyday performance in a print that takes only a few minutes to produce.

Guides and print profiles

Print profiles and steps

Official Profile – Reliable Fit & Smooth Mechanism Official profile tuned for correct fit, smooth hinge movement and consistent latch performance.

Loose Fit – Looser hinge - Easier Opening f the standard profile feels too tight, this version slightly reduces extrusion (~-0.05) for an easier initial movement.

The first openings may still feel firm — this is normal. Open and close a few times to break in the mechanism.

Tight Fit – Use Only If Too Loose Use this only if the standard profile feels too loose . This version slightly increases extrusion (~+0.05) to improve latch strength and holding force. Helps prevent the clip from opening unintentionally when pulling the cable.

The mechanism may feel firmer at first — this is normal. Open and close a few times to settle it into its final behavior.
