H2 AMS 2 Pro Flipper Wall Clearance Mod and Handle

This modified top-mount AMS 2 Pro flipper moves the AMS 55mm further forward, allowing it to raise fully when the H2D is positioned close to a wall. It was designed for setups such as mine where there is not much clearance behind the printer (about 85mm in my case from the wall to the back of the printer), where the original flipper would cause the AMS lid to hit the wall before it could be raised enough.

IMPORTANT: Because these move the center of gravity further forward, the locking pins don't provide as much grip to allow the flipper to hold in the flipped position very well by itself, so use caution not to leave it in the flipped position without other supports such as the handles and arms in the second profile to stop it falling back down.

The brackets are a direct replacement for the two small AMS 2 Pro mounting brackets from the print above, so there is no need to reprint the larger arms that attach to the back of the printer.

The modification also includes a front handle to make lifting the AMS easier. The handle is secured from below using one of the original AMS transport screws 3x16mm, so no additional hardware is required.

Assemble by sliding the folding arm upper bracket onto the dovetail joint of the handle, you can use a bit of filament to secure it, but as it fits from the bottom it won't come off anyway so not really needed, just for extra peace of mind.

The arm uses gopro style pronged fitment, just slide this on and push through the securing pin, it should sit flush so give it a firm press, this is tapered at the end so should secure well.

The folding support arm holds the flipper securely in the raised position once lifted. Also as the AMS does not tilt all the way back with this mod, the printer can continue printing while it is raised because the filament spools remain securely seated on the rollers.

There is a stopper on the long arm so it won't flip forward so be aware and don't force it to fold out front, it fold back neatly out the way, there is a bit of friction at first, but over time it should loosen so the foot/arm will fall into place when you flip the AMS.

The Arm will work with the glass in place or not, so you can use this when you need access to the top while printing such as when using TPU to feed directly in from the top without having to remove the AMS unit.

Updated the Foot and arm on the Handle and split the profiles so you can download the flipper extender mod by itself, or the handle and arms by itself.

For fun I changed the foot to a Dino foot print : ) - print from TPU for best results, grips the glass nicely!

I have on the handle and arm profile a bit of an experimental piece that uses beam interlocking on the foot between TPU and PETG, I have printed it on a H2D and it took some time but the result was really nice, so included it if you wanted to give it a go, there is a modified arm that clips onto it also on plate 3.
