osVAC Adapter for Makita SP6000 plunge saw

Description

osVAC Adapter for the Makita SP6000 plunge saw. However, it is rather a replacement for the original vacuum port of the saw to make the saw compatible with the osVAC standard. There are some adapters already available, but I decided to replace the vacuum port, because it is firmly attached to the saw and the hose cannot detach while working.

I did the print in PET, but other materials should work, too. I printed with the osVAC end to the top and needed support for the overhangs at the Makita end and for one of the protrusion of the osVAC end. But you can also try to print it the other way around.

Advise

UNPLUG YOUR SAW!! Please be advised that you need to unscrew and open the metal housing of your saw. For doing so, you need to take off the 5 black screws on the side with a screwdriver. Then you can lift off the metal housing and replace the original vacuum port. I have removed the gasket from the original vacuum port and mounted it on the printed one. The model features a notch for the gasket.

Versions

The original vacuum port bends 45°. My first version bends only 30° to simplify printing and because the air flow is less deflected and decelerated. After attaching it to the saw, I realized that depending on how the orientation on the saw is, the 45° would be more beneficial and the hose would be less in your way. Consequently, I have also created a 45° version. Pick the version you prefer. I have just not printed the 45° version myself, but let me know if you run into any issues.
