Description

The air flow rate of a small dome vent is very low. This is not sufficient, especially in the bathroom/toilet of a caravan. In my case, it is the standard roof vent in a new, small Sterckeman caravan (identical in construction to Caravelair). The opening in the roof has a diameter of 100 mm. The pitch circle diameter of the 3 screws is about 91 mm. I used the following parts to build an active fan:

The existing upper part (dome) is still used (manufacturer unknown). The existing lower part is replaced by part 1. The 3 existing screws are still used. An 80 x 80 mm PC fan with the highest possible air flow rate and as little noise as possible (integrated decoupling). Part 2 goes under the fan and also provides space to accommodate any excess length of fan cable. Part 2 has a flat surface for attaching a speed controller for PC fans. Part 2, the PC fan and part 1 are held together with 4 Spax screws 3 x 40 mm with countersunk heads.

The electrical connection must, of course, be carried out by a qualified person.
