Recreator3D - MK6 - Planetary Gear Upgrade

Print Setting

3 walls 20% 3D Honeycomb. The outer gear should not use brim. Aggressive elephant foot compensation is OK. All part not need support.

Need M4 hex nut * 4, M4 * 16 screw * 4.

May needs to adjustment some values to make the gap between the gears as smaller as the better.

But it can still work without any adjustment and there will have bigger gap. See Adjustment Guid at bottom.

Params for 3 Planet gear must be synchronized. For .stl, dont separate them into single. And at the junction of the upper and lower gears, thinner layer height ( ~ 0.12) needs to be set to avoid overhanging.

Sun gear It is not recommended use PLA, motor may warp it.

Assembly Instructions

See picture, this is the top view of the planetary gear.

- Make the square gap (in purple circle) on the left - Planet gears in the fixed pos according to the index, align the arrow with the notch of the bottom gear (in three blue oval circles) Then gently cover the Top and don't push it down, then rotate it slightly, now should fall into the gears and then be unable to rotate it alone.

Now rotate Sun gear to check all gear are connected then push Top to clip on Bottom.

- Lock Back onto 2020/2040 - Lock stepper motor onto Back - Lock full Planetary gear part onto Back. Finally, install the Spacer on the side of the spool that's not the gear.

Adjustment Guid

For Sun gear

- “xy contour compensation” usually need to increase 0.1. - “xy hole compensation” usually need to increase 0.06. For Planet gear

- “xy contour compensation” usually need to increase 0.1. - 0.12 layer height at junction of the upper and lower gears. For Planetary Bottom/Top

- “xy hole compensation” usually need to reduce 0.05. For all have gear part, recommended

- Reduce width of outer wall - Increase width of inner wall - Increase seam gap (when happened noticeable seam spots) Those adjustment can make more precise gear shape.
