Description

Need a helping hand while soldering 2 wires together? Meet the “Wire Wizard”. This is a tool where you can clamp 2 things close together and do your soldering job. Mostly it would be wires, but also resistors or other smaller stuff can be handled.

The “Wire Wizard” can have different cover plates to allow different storing options.

- french cleat - on metal surfaces with magnets - gridfinity (2x2 size) - just hanging somewhere For it's operation it needs 2 print bed springs (e.g. from your old printer in the basement).

- 8mm OD, 20mm length - 8mm OD, 25mm length (see picture for example)

Also the base part is customizable. The slanted front, useful for french cleat wall, allows text. Example files are available. If you plan to store it on you fc wall, then you have to use indented text.

Following additional hardware needed

- 2 print bed springs with od of 8mm and 20 or 25mm length - gridfinity: 4 M3x10 or M3x10M3x8 hex socket crews french cleat: 4 M3x8 (possibly 10mm length is also ok) countersunk screws

Print instructions

- PLA should be sufficient, but material with higher heat resistance may be wise (e.g. PETg or ASA) - in general 15% CUBIC infill should be ok (the 3mf files make some mods to that to reinforce the holes) - print in given orientation - the base (3mf files) have support enforcers activated, it is possibly not necessary, but for best results I added it. What to print:

- 2 common/clamps - depending on the length of your spring choose one of the clamps. I tested the clamp for 25mm spring - choose folder “french cleat” or “gridfinity”. - fc for french cleat / general worktable - gf for gridfinity / magnets (magnets are what gridfinity recommends) - from the chosen folder print one bottom cover and the base with or without text

Assembly

- take the base bottom uptake the base bottom up - prepare the base - remove supports - I highly recommend to cut M3 threads into the 4 holes. A cheap assortment of thread drills is a good investment! - or - you could just glue the base and cover together if e.g. no screws available - take the cover and ensure that the screws fit through the holes easily. If not take a 3mm drill and clear the holes from the debris - put the springs into the holes of the clamps - put each clamp-spring assembly into its position - put cover on - hold the assembly tight together and test if all thins run smoothly - screw or glue the cover to the base - if you chosen the gridfinity version, then put the magnets in if desired

Note

For transparency, I saw this devices on aliexpress. So the idea itself is not mine (but as a side note, you can buy lots of 3d printed stuff from sites like printables on ali and surley the creators won't see a coin)

I 3D modeled all by my self and my design is altered and more features added.

Also I do not use gridfinity, but I think this is a useful addition to that model. I used the gridfinity workbench in FreeCAD for that. This version is not tested by me! Feedback appreciated.

Additional notes

I'm interested in your feedback to improve my stuff! So give me likes, post makes, comment and rate the print to show others and me how well it goes. If you post a make, let me know which filament you use.

If you want to support me by donating a coffee go to https://ko-fi.com/antimaterie I would really happy about it. The money will be invested in all stuff regarding 3d printing to give more and better quality models.

In general my Prints are not for commercial use, but if you are a print farm owner and want to sell some of my stuff, please contact me.

Hope you enjoy my models.
