Description
I needed a curtain pole for a bay window with 5 windows, to have one made would have cost about £300!!! My wife found this on Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/0hsXIXhh which would work on a 3 window bay, so I needed to find a way to modify it to fit our 5 windows! The idea I came up with was to use the poles from this kit and custom make brackets to fit the angles between windows!
This is my first practical design so go easy on me! It needed to do several things A. fit the existing poles B. be strong enough to support the curtains with only 3 brackets to allow fully closing and opening the curtains C. be thin enough to allow the curtain rings to pass over the connections.
This is what I came up with, if you need something for these admittedly specific circumstances I have a couple of improvement/suggestions 1. use PETG-GF or PETG-CF for strength and rigidity 2. use at least 30% infill for the same reason 3. make sure all the poles line up and are not twisted and then use some sort of high strength adhesive to lock poles and connectors in (I didn't and now occasionally have to twist poles to straighten it all out) 4. Do not twist poles too much when assembling as the tension can make the printed parts explode (don't ask how I know…)
Hopefully this will help someone somewhere with the same oddly specific needs to save a fair bit of money!
