GAME RULES :

Hollerith is a tactical placement game for two players based on the concept of historic punch cards invented by Herman Hollerith (Germany).

Objective Be the first player to form an uninterrupted line of 4 marbles of your color (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) on the 6x6 board.

Components & Setup

- 1 Game Board with a 6x6 grid of recesses.

- 5 Punch Plates (only 4 fit on the board at a time). Each plate features drill holes, but only up to two (marked) holes per plate are large enough to let a marble pass through to the board underneath.

- 36 Marbles in two colors (18 per player).

- Setup: Place 4 of the 5 punch plates randomly onto the board to cover the grid. The 5th plate stays off the board for now.

Gameplay Players take turns. On your turn, you must perform two consecutive actions :

- Slide a Plate: Take the spare (5th) punch plate, rotate or flip it as you like, and slide it onto the board from any edge. This shifts the row/column of plates over, pushing a different plate out on the opposite side to become the new spare.

- Place a Marble: Put one marble of your color through an open, functional hole of any plate into an empty recess of the board below.

Game End

- Victory: The first player to align 4 of their own marbles in a row immediately wins.

- Loss by Inability to Move: If you cannot place a marble on your turn (because all accessible holes lead to occupied spaces), you immediately lose the game.

SPIELREGELN :

- 36 Murmeln in zwei verschiedenen Farben (18x pro Person).
