Description

Add up to 4 additional NICs to your G9. Huge thanks to @sleeeeeepy_3195269 for the original case design!

AI Disclaimer: I used Claude (Opus 4.8) to modify the original 3MF files.

Files:

- g9-modkit-ethernet - bottom shell replacement

- g9-pcb-rail - add M2 threaded inserts and glue into place. I recommend screwing in one or two of the jack PCBs to ensure alignment

- g9-m2rails-and-feet - one takes M2 nuts, another takes M2 threaded inserts

- g9-mounting-rails - press into place into the bottom screw slots. Can accommodate command strips for mounting.

Bill of materials (Amazon non-affiliate links):

- (4) Intel I226-V m.2 B+M key adapters

- (optional) Intel I226-V m.2 A+E key adapter (must remove WiFi card)

- M2 threaded inserts, nuts, screws

- (2) Male SH1.0 JST 4-Pin Connectors

- (2) Noctua 40mm 5v fan

- (optional) Small heatsinks for I226-V chips, eMMC

Assembly notes:

- Shell mounts to G9 case using the original screws

- m.2 bracket mounts to PCB using top plate screws

- Make sure you add the threaded inserts to the PCB rail before gluing into place. Mount one or two of the jack PCBs to ensure orientation and alignment.

- Fan connectors must be soldered/adapted to the Noctua wires.

To make installing x86 OpenWrt easier, you can use my Alpine Linux based installer. Flash ISO to a removable media and follow the on screen prompts.
