Description

A simple, sturdy balcony railing mount designed to get a Starlink dish outside with a clear view of the sky without drilling into the building.

I designed this specifically for mounting a Starlink Mini to a balcony railing. It has been tested with the Mini dish and its mounting pole, but it should also work with other Starlink dishes, or other hardware that uses the same compatible mounting pole.

Hardware

The mount uses 4 × M5 heat-set inserts for a strong, reusable connection between the printed parts. Install the inserts with a soldering iron before assembling the mount.

You'll also need suitable M5 bolts to match your inserts and installation.

Installation

The two parts clamp around the balcony railing, with the Starlink mounting pole supported above it.

I recommend adding a small piece of strong double-sided tape between the top part of the mount and the railing . The bolts provide the clamping force; the tape simply adds some extra friction and reduces the chance of the mount gradually slipping or rotating on a smooth railing.

Insert the Starlink mounting pole, tighten everything securely, and check that the assembly cannot rotate or slide before installing the dish.

Printing

My version was printed in PETG , which I'd recommend for its toughness, temperature resistance and suitability for outdoor use.

Use plenty of walls/perimeters and a reasonably strong infill. This is a functional outdoor part that will be exposed to wind loading.

Compatibility

- Tested with Starlink Mini

- Designed to fit the Starlink pole mounting adapter

- Should work with other Starlink dishes using the same pole dimensions

- May also work for other equipment using a compatible mounting pole

Important: Check the mount periodically, particularly after strong winds. If installing above an area where people or property could be below the dish, consider adding an independent safety tether.
