Gigi the Giraffe – Low Poly ZOO

Hello, my name is Gigi

A tall, curious low-poly giraffe, built for multi-material FDM printing . About 2 800 flat facets and five colours a golden coat, dark brown spots, a rusty mane running down the neck, a pale muzzle and a tiny black eye.

Every spot is its own set of flat facets, so the pattern prints crisp and clean instead of fuzzy, no tiny colour changes inside a facet.

Gigi joins my Low Poly ZOO series - a collection of animals made in the same style, scale and colour language, so they look good together on a shelf.

What you get

On a printer with two tools, print the body and the spots, and leave the muzzle, mane and eye in the body colour - the spots are what makes it a giraffe.

Recommended filaments

Prusament PLA: a golden yellow for the coat , Noctua Brown for the spots, hooves and tail tuft, a warm rust or terracotta for the mane , Noctua Beige for the muzzle and Jet Black for the eye . Any colours work — the facets do the heavy lifting.

See it before you print it

Print settings

- Size: about 27 × 75 × 120 mm as delivered (width × length × height)

- Layer height: 0.2 mm (0.15 mm if you want smoother facets)

- Nozzle: 0.4 mm

- Infill: 10–15 %, any pattern

- Supports: only about 6 % of the surface overhangs. Let PrusaSlicer add organic supports where it suggests them; they leave almost no marks on the flat facets.

- Orientation: as in the 3MF, standing on its four hooves. The contact area is small (about 70 mm² in total), so use a brim — it comes off the flat hoof faces cleanly — and avoid fast travel moves near the top of the neck.

- Scaling: delivered at 120 mm tall. The thinnest parts are the legs, the tail and the tips of the horns, so don't scale it down; scale up freely.

Show your print

The colours are yours to play with — a white okapi-style giraffe, a pink fantasy one, or just one colour and let the facets do the work. Post the result as a Make under this model; I'd love to see the colour combinations you come up with, and the best ones get featured here.

Please don't re-upload the model itself: recoloured copies published as new models (here or elsewhere) aren't allowed.
