DISCLAIMER : i had to set my ESC to 48 KHz to get the stabilisation to work on the O3. Even if the frame flies super well on stock settings the stabilized footage with RockSteady was trash. The issue probably comes from the lack of dampening on the camera mount, i have to do something better in that regard or even completely give up on this frame and make something better.
You can buy this frame as a kit from CNCDrones.com (by CNCMadness).
Check also this modified version by Alboost with a cooler looking front plates system https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5963805

Updates:
- Dec. 13 2022 : modified slots on the top and front plate to avoid cutting tolerance issues and play in the cam plates assembly. - Dec. 12 2022 : added 4 inch WideX arms and 5 inch DeadCat - Dec. 11 2022: added 3.5 inch arms that are cinewhoop-able. Basically you can add plastic ducts and make the frame a 3" cinewhoop. - Dec. 10 2022 : - added lens protector. 2 carbon parts that protect the lens of a Vista cam instead of using a TPU lens cap. - Slight adjustements to the cam plates, version is 1-1. - Removed 30x30 FC mount. It's quite useless on this frame. Frame introduction
The WU TANK! … version 2 ! This is a light freestyle oriented. The goal is to have a build that is in the 200-250g dry and send it. It uses smaller hardware than a classic 5" freestyle setup but preserves the fun.
Why not go sub250g then ? Because it's a bit suboptimal and removes a lot of fun just to keep the weigh under a certain limit.
The Wu Lite 2 frame can be used for freestyle and even long range !
Here are the improvements & specs :
- arm options (for now) : - 3.5" CineX (26° arm angle, you can add plastic ducts to make it a 3" cinewhoop) - 4" WideX - 5.25" WideX - 5.25" DeadCat - 6" WideX - 6" DeadCat (soon) - Redesigned front with cam plates - HD capable (DJI Vista & O3, Walksnail or whatever fits in the rear bay) - WAY stronger and stiffer (better at vibrations management) - Low profile body (16mm tall for a Vista setup while still having 22mm for the camera in the front) - Improved arm interlock - Supports 20x20, 25.5x25.5 (AIO turned 45°) electronics (M2 screws) - Rear bay supports 20x20 and 25.5x25.5 VTX (M2 screws) - 9x9 & 12x12 motor mounts for 3.5" and 4" inch versions - 12x12 motor mount (thought for 2203.5/2204/2205/2203.5 setups mainly)! (5 and 6" versions) - M2 hardware - backward compatible with most of the printable accessories of the MOD-L and WU TANK v1 Assembly and hardware needed
The whole body assembly is using some uncommon components but they're easy to find, here,s what you need :
- 4x BetaFPV M2 pressnuts : [ https://betafpv.com/products/m2-clamping-nuts ] (available in various shops as well) - 4x M2x10mm screws for arms locking (center) - 4x M2x14mm screws for arms locking (outer side with the standoffs) - 4x M2x18mm screws for rear Vista assembly () - 16x M2x6mm screws for the standoffs - 2x M2 22mm standoffs (front) (can be made 20mm + 2mm nut) : [ https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32958289804.html ] - 2 x M2 20mm standoffs (camera cage) : [ https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32958289804.html ] - 6x M2 16mm standoffs (rear, you can add 2 more if you don't use a Vista) : [ https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32958289804.html ] Getting the frame cut
My recommended places are [ www.cncmadness.com ] (CA/US/Worldwide) and [ www.carbon-posten.de ] (EU/Germany), [ CNC DRONE 91 ] (EU/France), [ Haut Var FPV ] (EU/France), [ CNC Dupays ] (EU/France). Great quality cuts and fair pricing/delivery time.
you need to send the provided DXF files with the following instructions :
- 4 x arms (choose the 3.5in, 4in, 5in or 6in file according to your needs, for deadcat you need 2 front and 2 rear arms) : 4mm carbon fiber - 2 x cam plates (those work with DJI O3 or other cams) : 2mm carbon fiber - 2 x cam lens protector (especially for non O3 cams) : 2mm carbon fiber - 1 x front plate : 2mm carbon fiber - 1 x rear plate : 2mm (or even 1.5mm) carbon fiber - 1 x top plate : 2mm carbon fiber You can optionally ask for countersunk holes on the rear of the top plate and have your screws sitting flush, chamfered arms, etc.
Feel free to ask me for directions and help.
Installing the VTX
The rear bay have 20x20 and 25.5x25.5 M2 mounts. The VTX installation must be as flush as possible as the height here is 16mm only (mind the screws heads).
Extra gear
Some antenna & cap mounts provided here. You can reuse most of the accessories designed for the original WU TANK frame as well.
My Setup (235g DRY)
- 5 inch version of the frame - Mamba F722 MK1 AIO - T-Motor 2203.5 4S motors + Gemfan 4.9 SBANG Props - DJI CAM + VISTA (full) - Flywoo Atomic antenna - TBS Crossfire RX - 650mAh or 850mAh 4S Lipo Batteries (GNB, Tattu, TBS Graphene)
