Description

This simple mic stand is meant for smaller microphones to sit on a desk. It's flat, so no angle toward your mouth or other audio source. Just a small cone for the mic to sit on. Large, oddly-shaped, or otherwise imbalanced mics may require a larger base for stability. (See pics for my example of a simple, balanced mic. The mass is centered over the base, not tilted or offset.)

The base has two features for attaching the mic. First, there's a hole for a 1/4-inch hex head bolt, which is inserted from underneath. The head of the bolt fits into a hexagon-shaped pocket that doubles as a wrench to snug up the base on the microphone. The second feature is a pocket on top of the stand, which should seat a typical threaded microphone adapter for a 5/8-27 mic thread.

Parts required:

- 1/4-20 to 5/8-27 thread adapter for microphones - 1/4-20 hex head bolt, 1-inch length - Printed mic stand Assembly is very simple:

- Insert the hex bolt through the base so the head is inside of the hexagon-shaped pocket. - Thread the mic adapter onto the bolt from the top side of the stand until it seats snugly against the top of the stand. - Thread the assembled stand into the bottom of your desired microphone. Printing should also be super-simple. No supports are needed here. The hexagon-shaped pocket tapers at a 45-degree angle to the thru hole, so printers generally should handle it well.

I printed my particular base using a 0.8mm nozzle and 3D BEST-Q wood-filled filament.

In addition to STL and 3MF files, I've included STEP and Fusion 360 models, in case anyone would like to make adjustments or adapt it to a different thread adapter, such as the 3/8-inch European mic threads some models have. Another option for customization might be if your mic has a 1/4-inch thread to directly attach to the bolt.

For reference, my specific microphone model is the Samson Meteor in chrome.
