Description
Remix modifications
Added additional air intakes for better flow compared to Thomas Albrechts model. https://www.printables.com/model/458782-sovol-sv06plus-power-supply-cover-for-80mm-fan No other changes from my part.
As you can see also suitable for removing the white markings from the sovol buildplate when printed in PETG…
Original design description from Thomas Albrecht:
Why this?
The PSU fan on the SV06/SV06 Plus is always on and pretty loud. And despite what the text on the PSU says it is not controlled by the PSU temperature.
The solution is to use a quieter fan. Which is easier when the fan is bigger since it can transport the same amount of air while running slower.
The printed PSU cover by felixna didn't come with a cutout for the fan cable. That wouldn't be a problem if you could mount the fan on the inside of the PSU like the original 6020 fan. Maybe an 8010 fan fits on the inside (I didn't try) but a standard 8025 won't. If the fan is mounted on the outside you really need some place for the cable to go through the cover. The cover remix by crasbe has a cable cutout but that only works if the fan blows inwards. Which you probably don't want since hot air rises upwards and an inward blowing fan would work against that.
This cover allows you to mount a 80 mm fan on the outside of the PSU cover and a stepdown converter on the inside. There is a hole in the cover to reach the adjustment screw of the converter from the outside.
The cover works on the
- CHENGLIANG P360W24V of the SV06 - CHENGLIANG P500W24V of the SV06 Plus You'll also need
- 1x 80 mm fan (I used a Noctua NF-R8 redux-1200 12 V) - 6x M3 heat set inserts - 2x short M3 socket head screws (M3x5 or M3x6) - 1x LM2596 stepdown converter, if you want to use a fan with 5 or 12 V (inside the PSU only 24V are available) - 1x 2pin JST-XA connector (SV06) or 2pin JST-XH connector (SV06 Plus) Optional
- a printed fan cover , or - an 80mm metallic fan cover Assembly Notes
- The existing fan power connector might be covered with glue (it was on my SV06 Plus, but not on my SV06). - You might have to cut off a little nose on the fan where the cable is supposed to go inside the cover. Safety Note
You'll be working on a 110/230V part of your printer, be extra careful. Not doing so might result in death or serious injury.
