Description

First, all credit to Bignozz for the original idea and design. Check out the original Low-Poly Baby Yoda book stand / book end and download the low-poly Baby Yoda model. My stand should also work with his Darth Vader model.

I found that using several fairly heavy books in my display caused the base to flex up away from the shelf. Also, a number of folks have noted that the whole assembly tends to slide away from the books. To address both of these issues, I thought of adding a counterbalance/anchor under the books. I also bumped the base thickness up to 5mm for a little more stiffness. I don't find that either of these changes has any negative effect on the aesthetics of the display and makes the whole model more stable.

I've included both a 1-piece design that will just fit on a 235x235 print bed when printed with a 5mm brim. I've also included a 2-piece design so that the counterbalance can be printed separately to fit on a smaller bed. All versions are available with or without the positioning peg for the figurine.

Printing Parameters:

I printed everything at .2mm layer height in PLA.

1-piece versions and Main Stand for 2-piece:

- Print on edge for strength - 8 perimeters/walls - maximum stiffness - 5mm brim - 50% infill - if you use the recommended wall settings, this is only filling the center of the Y - Supports on for peg, optional for other configurations. 2-piece Counterbalance:

- Print flat on bed - 3 perimeters/walls is probably plenty - I would still use a higher infill if using 3 walls. I used 50% - No brim! - Supports on for the connector pins.
