Description
Introducing our open-source tabletop Newtonian telescope, meticulously designed for both community stargazing sessions and precise astrophotography, especially when paired with a star tracker mount. With a focus on portability, this model is an ideal choice for those spur-of-the-moment celestial observations. The design files are provided in Fusion 360 format, and we warmly invite the astronomy community to personalize, enhance, and share their innovative modifications.
Key Features:
- Swift Optics with an f/4 ratio. - Compact design without compromising on versatility. - A notable aperture size of 114mm. We champion community collaboration and innovation. We're excited to see how you'll expand on the capabilities of this 3D printed telescope.
Parts Procured from eBay/Amazon:
- $80 - Primary Mirror - 114mm Diameter / 450mm Focal Length Parabolic - $20 - Secondary Mirror - 25mm - $20 - Lazy Susan Bearing - $40 - All Metal Focuser - 1.25 inch
Build Considerations:
- The mounting holes for the focuser are yet to be incorporated into the model. An update will be provided once the focuser from the eBay listing is received and its dimensions are accurately measured. - Although most mirrors listed on eBay are described as parabolic/spherical, we're awaiting our order to verify the parabolic nature of the mirror. Any findings or adjustments will be communicated in due course.
Why Choose Our Design:
While the market offers cheaper telescopes, many with larger apertures, they often come with limitations. Should your focuser malfunction, procuring a matching replacement can be challenging. Desire a mirror with a different focal length? Most commercial models don’t offer this flexibility. This is why we're dedicated to providing design files with our telescopes. Experience the vast world of astronomy without being constrained by the offerings of mainstream manufacturers.
