Description

Galileo2 (G2E) with filament runout sensor.

- ECAS-Fitting compatible. - Step file included. - No change in overall G2E dimensions

BOM:

- 1x Omron D2F microswitch - 1x 5mm steel ball bearing - (optional) 2x M2x8 self tapping screws (You might get away with M2x10 and some shims, I did.) Assembly instructions:

- Carefully bend the pins of the microswitch flat (but not fully against the housing) - solder wires to the outermost pins of the microswitch - insert a 5mm steel ball into the hole - insert the switch into its mounting place you may need to depress the microswitch while inserting. - IMPORTANT STEP: slide in some filament and check if the switch actually got depressed. If not: Flow some solder on the “backside” of the switch connectors, tightening the fit. This way, you can easily tighten the fit if the tolerances are too large on your print. - (Optional): Secure the microswitch with some glue or screws. - Update your Klipper config. Example printer.cfg

######################################## # Filament runout switch sensor ######################################## [filament_switch_sensor runout_sensor] pause_on_runout: True runout_gcode: SAVE_GCODE_STATE NAME=runout_state G90 G1 X350 Y358 G91 G92 E0 G1 E-60 F300 RESTORE_GCODE_STATE NAME=runout_state

insert_gcode: LOAD_FILAMENT

pause_delay: 0.5 switch_pin: PG11 BE WARNED! This works on my Voron 350 with an SKR Octopus board. and a Revo Voron Hotend. If you use it, do so at your own risk, and update what's needed so it runs on your printer. I will not be held accountable for any damage to your printer caused by your own actions.

Changelog:

- 02.04.24 G2E was officially released. I remodeled the file based on the officially released G2E Cad. (V2)

- 03.04.24 Added a Filametrix filament cutter compatible version

- Filametrix version needs a bowden tube before the heatset, cut to length, insert and check, lock in place with heatset - Yes, ERCF works absolutely beautiful with just a filament entry sensor in the toolhead. I didn't see a second sensor that useful as we mostly print without an MMU anyway, so why the overhead?
