Description

Brossel 551

Semi scale model of a NMBS diesel motorcar, put in service in 1939 and decommisioned in the mid 60's.

This motorcar (autorail) was manufactured by the Brossel compagny in Belgium, equipped with a diesel engine in the middle of the car. The main goal was to service the local small railroad connections.

I drew this up based on the book of the TSP, pictures from the internet and by looking at the real one in Trainworld (there is a fully restaured one on display).

The chassis has not been printed or tested yet (should use a 2mm wire as axel), as my goal was to take an old Marklin 3016 railbus, cut (yes with a hacksaw) it shorter, digitize it and use that as chassis for this project. The original 3016 was an analogue model, with a relais, that would not work on my digital railroad.

So far, that has worked well but I have not painted this model yet.

The ‘mal’ STL is an aid to help bend the tube on the roof, I used a 0.5 mm wire but it's very fragile (so are the mirrors).

Pay close attention to the orientation, several parts are mirror images but should be used in the right direction.

The central ‘middenbalk’ on the roof can be somewhat secured with 2 short pieces of 1mm wire. I'd not clue this, as you need access to the central screw of the 3016 chassis.

I made a replacement for the fake suspension part of the Marklin 3016, based on actual pictures.

This is a test of the second resin version, some more fixes were incorporated afterwards.

I added templates that can be used to cut out the windows one by one. These I printed in PLA.

scale 1:87 for H0

printed with and designed for Anycubic Photon Mono 2

I would however use my Prusa MK3s+ for the chassis.

EDIT 4 jan 2025

I created a version with dual headlights. I have not yet test printed this one, but the change is minor and I expect it will be ok. For picture, see the green version rendering.
