Description

I really liked the look of vojtz's flat xLCD cover , and printed it (or rather, the labeled remix by Habony Norbert ) for my MK4. However, I ran into some issues. The screen didn't fit into the hole without filing, the screw hole pattern on the knob side of the cover didn't match, and I noticed it was missing the bracing of the USB outlet present in Prusa's original cover. I also had some fitment issues with the accent frames and the LED diffusor. I set out to fix these issues, and this is the result.

R2 or R3?

Prusa's original xLCD cover has (at the time of writing) two versions with different hole patterns: R2 for xLCD board version 27 or older and R3 for xLCD board version 28 or newer. At least that's what Prusa says. Only MK4 seems to have ever used the R2 version in production. This, however, also includes such MK4 printers upgraded to MK4S and Core One(+). I have access to one xLCD board marked as version 29 and one marked as version 27, and they definitely use the same hole pattern (the R3 one), so I'm not sure what to think about what Prusa says about the versions… Due to this, I included a file you can print in about 25 minutes to determine which version is correct for your MK4(S).

Installation

vojtz's original has a great installation guide, with helpful pictures.

Changelog

- v1.2-ft5 - 2024-05-28: (compared to original models)

- Fixed measurements:

- Fixed hole positions on knob side to match original R2 and R3 xLCD covers.

- Reduced height by about 0.3 mm (matching the distance in the original xLCD cover) to fix the supports being pulled crooked when tightening the mounting screws.

- Widened the screen hole by about 0.25 mm in total. Neither of the two screens I have access to fit at all before this.

- Widened LED diffusor to fill the entire slot for it.

- Adjusted the accent frame to fit tighter on the rest of the cover (original just rested in place for me).

- Fixed reset button thickness in Habony Norbert's remix, now matches vojtz's original.

- Copied the USB outlet bracing from Prusa's original xLCD cover.

- Prepared for MMU color printing:

- Replaced the “Reset” label on the reset button with an X. The “Reset” label was a bit too tiny to print with a 0.4 mm nozzle.

- Added a thinner (2 mm) accent frame, intended to be printed in place (easily removable before slicing if you don't want it)

- v1.2-ft6 - 2024-05-30:

- Changed the font of the embossed “Original Prusa MK4” to one that's at least very similar to the one Prusa uses in their UV prints and vinyl stickers (the pictured single-color version is still v1.2-ft5).

- 2024-06-03:

- Added MK3.9, MK3.5, XL and blank (unlabeled) versions. As far as I have seen, the non-MK4 models have only ever used the R3 version, so I've only generated them that way (tell me if I'm wrong, and I'll fix it). The MK3.9 and MK3.5 versions of the cover use slightly smaller text to fit all the characters, and the XL version (fittingly) uses slightly bigger text.

- The MK4 files were only updated with naming modifications, the models themselves are untouched from v1.2-ft6.

- 2024-08-12:

- Added versions for the just announced MK4S, MK3.9S and MK3.5S. All of these use slightly smaller text than the non-S versions to fit all characters.

- 2026-06-14:

- Added versions for Core One, Core One+ and Core One L, with classic labels. (Several remixes already exist for the "zig zag line" style used on the original LCD covers for the Core One series.)
