Description

Like many people, I've relocated my spool holder from on top of the machine down to a lower level. This left the filament run-out sensor kind of stranded because it's attached to the stock spool holder upright. I looked quickly but didn't find any other models I liked, so I whipped this up in Fusion 360.

It's designed to keep the sensor in (or at least very close to) its original position so there shouldn't be any unforeseen complications with interference as you start printing bigger models.

Printing notes:

- I've printed mine in plain Creality PLA and it seems to be strong enough. (Material 220°/Bed 60°) Your mileage may vary with different materials. - Print Orientation is the same as the final mounting orientation ( big, flat side down ) - No supports required - 15-25% infill should be more than enough - No brim should be required unless you're using some other material that's causing issues. Quality notes:

- This part prints pretty quickly, so no need to blast it at 200 miles an hour. Slower speed will get you better quality on a new printer. - You can see from the photos, my top layer isn't really pretty; this is a stock machine without any adjustments, right out of the box but this is the kind of part you need to print before you can get everything looking pretty. It's totally functional as is, so don't worry too much about making it perfect until you can get your machine dialed in! Installation notes:

- Mounts with the stock filament holder screws in the original holes. - Use the original runout sensor mounting screw AND bushing (this should press fit into the upright on the mount without trouble) - Run out sensor fit is kind of sloppy on the original mount, so I've kept that just in case it's required by some crazy, unknown to me, design constraint. Just be sure that there's a little freedom of movement in all three axes to be sure. (you can see this in the top-down photo). Designer's note:

- Happy Printing! If you have any trouble, suggestions or feedback, please send me a note. As mentioned, this was printed on a machine that's pretty much straight out of the box. Fits and tolerances are designed to accommodate a bit of inaccuracy in part size, so hopefully it'll work for the rest of you too!
