Description

The stock fan is pretty loud, and the stock shield really limits air movement, causing higher temps. This mod lets you replace both for better heat mitigation. I would recommend the 3-fan model, only because then you are blowing over both sets of stepper drivers, but the 2-fan version should be OK as well. With the fans I'm using at 70% max power, they are 65DB right next to them, and about 42DB about a foot away. It's so much better than the stock. I just plugged the 2 extra fans into the open ports that are available.

You will need to print with supports. Insert the nut inserts from the side that doesn't have the fans.

Hardware: 6-12 M3x5x4 (5mm wide and 4mm long) insert nuts (same as stock voron) I only used 2 per fan, but you can use more. 2 M3 hammer nuts 2 M3x8 screws 6-12 M3x12 socket head screws for fans 3 4010 ball bearing fans (these are what I used: https://amzn.to/4erOisy (I may earn a commission on any purchases from that link))

The following code will allow control of all the fans. Replace the stock exhaust fan code with this. It sets all 3 fans at 20% and will set them up to 70% based on temps:

[multi_pin host_fans] pins: PA1,PA2,PA6

[temperature_fan Host_Fans] # Host computer cooling fan pin: multi_pin:host_fans max_power: 1.0 sensor_type: temperature_host # Set to host computer to control temperature target_temp: 48 # Host computer cooling fan starting temperature min_temp: 0 # Minimum temperature, below this temperature an error will be reported max_temp: 80 # Maximum temperature, an error will be reported if the temperature is higher than this off_below: 0.10 kick_start_time: 0.50 max_speed: 0.7 # Maximum speed, 70% of full power operation min_speed: 0.2 # Minimum speed, 20% of full power operation control: pid pid_Kp: 2.0 pid_Ki: 5.0 pid_Kd: 0.5 pid_deriv_time: 2.0
