This is an experimental project to trade the ashtray assembly entirely to a cupholder.

Key messages: - the development is done based on a 2004 LS430 post-facelift with 6spd shifter. I have no access to the pre-facelift 5spd shifter to check fitment. Therefore, pre-facelift fitment remains unknown. - the cup holder is designed to mount on the center console wood using the original 4 screws from the factory ashtray - roll back to factory ashtray is possible as the cup holder design does not require any altering to any trim pieces - the cigarette lighter harness needs to move away to give space for the cup holder which involves removal of the harness clip from the shifter base. I found it easy to remove the clip with a 90degree pick. - the cup holder model is custom made to my water bottles. You may alter the model to fix your bottles. The max width of the wood opening allows 8cm diameter cup. - after a week of using, I found the 1.6mm base of the cupholder is a bit flimsy. My original design concept is to allow drinks to sit as low as possible. A slight thickening may suit the application better by altering the model. - my cup holder is printed with PETG; however, ABS or more heat resisted material should be considered when using in warmer climate. - welcome comments. I only worked 3 iterations on this cup holder development. And they are mostly fitment related iteration.
