Description
Vertical Role/Reminder token organiser for BotC. The objective here was to store all tokens without requiring any stacking, so that you can quickly extract the subset needed for any script; and to store reminder tokens with the role token they relate to. This does work but could probably be further refined.
This stores all tokens in the base set and Carousel (including Fabled and Travellers). Unofficial token sets may also fit, but it was tested with Carousel. The SCAD file is configurable, so you can technically print any combination you want (although unfortunately it's not configurable within Thingiverse since the Thingiverse configurator requires an out of date version)
"Onecol_" files print a full column in each STL. They are more efficient and fit the grimoire exactly vertically but require an XL printer. Print the four onecol_ files and the onecol_lid file four times. The spare space at the end of the last column is used for a large well that can be used to hold the life/death and deadvote tokens.
"Halfcol_" files print a half column in each STL so that two next to each other should fit the grimoire. Print the eight halfcol_ files and the halfcol_lid file four times. There is no additional holder on this version as the spare space is too small.
Unfortunately .SCAD files don't support multiple filaments, so when printing the boxes you will probably want to add a filament change at the lowest layer of the text to print it in a different colour. You can also use a slab modifier if you prefer or if you want to print the lids at the same time as the boxes. Alternatively you can print the whole thing in one colour and then use paint to colour the labels.
A few notes:
* **Make sure to use high quality filament for the text** as it can easily become unreadable if binding is imprecise. Also, handle the printed boxes with care as the text is also fragile and may snap off. I am not sure if it is possible to have the text embedded instead due to the limitation on filament in OpenSCAD - it is possible to have it inside a recess, but I'm not sure if that helps.
* The well for each role and set of reminder tokens should be the right size for that set of tokens in Carousel. You can refer to the list in the SCAD file if you are unsure about what one of the abbreviations means. (Release 1.1 fixed a few issues with this and also removed "Bootlegger" and "Gardener" which are not in Carousel.)
* The fitting of the lid to the box, and the fitting of the box to the grimoire, are deliberately quite tight to minimise the risk of them swaying around - if you are using PLA with texture be aware that it may be difficult to open the boxes.
* While removing tokens, a reminder token may fall forward into the empty role token well and be difficult to reach. If that happens, push it sideways and roll it up the curved side of the well.
* It **is** possible to put the boxes in the grimoire at 90 degrees so that you can carry the grimoire in the recommended position with the spine downwards. The fit of the lids should prevent the role tokens from falling out when the box is rotated, but the reminder tokens are another story - the fit is tight enough to keep most of them in place, but some may drop, especially if bounced around. I'm not sure if this can be fixed.
Customising the SCAD file:
* The settings for the SCAD file are at the top of the file and have comments that should clarify them. You can create your own set of wells of appropriate sizes by modifying the LABELS array - the three parts of each entry are the abbreviation, the number of role tokens, and the number of reminder tokens.
* To obtain the STL files for different columns, change the TARGET_COL parameter. The first column is generated when this is 0.
* Note that the gen_positions function generates the positions of **all** wells each run, and a subset is then selected based on TARGET_COL. This means that if you change LABELS or any other parameters, you can't assume that a printed later column will fit with earlier columns printed with unchanged parameters, because the wells may have fitted differently on the earlier columns and this will affect the choice of wells placed on the printed column. You can always override LABELS to force a particular set of wells onto the printed column.
