Description
These motor mount spacers can be used to raise the engine in a Toyota truck up off the frame brackets. This can provide additional clearance below the engine, if needed. It can also be used to achieve a "flat belly" setup to increase break over angle in off-road situations.
This would ideally be a welded fabrication. You'll need 2 ea. top and bottom plates along with 2 angled spacers. If your frame brackets have folded up metal pieces on the lower edge, add the Notch option to generate notched bottom plates to clear that metal. Likewise, you'll need 4 short bolts in the range of 3/8" or M10 diameter and around 1"/25mm long with nuts and washers to attach the spacer to the motor mount bracket itself. Then, you'll re-use the existing motor mount bolts to attach the assembly to the frame bracket. Having oversized holes will greatly assist in lining everything up while under the truck, see the installation instructions on the web page below.
It is possible to weld these up free hand, but a simple jig can help with alignment. Just use a plate and weld in two steel rods at the desired angle and then slide the bottom plate, spacer and top plate over the rods. Put a clamp on and tack weld the corners. For heights much under 2", it'll be hard to get in and access the side welds and also to install the spacers as there will be limited room for nuts, bolts and wrenches in there.
The jig would allow using spacers cut to say 45° which may be easier to cut. For freehand assembly, cut the spacers to the desired angle and then ensure the spacer piece is centered between the top and bottom plates before tack welding.
