3D Printed Wasp Traps: STL Models for Bottles and Jars

This collection gathers 3D printing files for wasp traps: threaded caps that turn a bottle into a trap, adapters for jars, modular multi-insect bodies and decoy nests. Most of them are small parts, so they print quickly and can be reprinted if a thread or an entry hole needs adjusting. It is useful when you want a trap shaped around a container you already have rather than a fixed design.

«3D Printed Wasp Traps: STL Models for Bottles and Jars»

The models differ mainly in how they attach and how insects get in. Bottle-threaded caps and jar adapters rely on a container you supply, while modular traps combine several parts and often target flies or ants as well. Decoy nests work the other way round: they are placed as a visual deterrent instead of catching anything. Rain roofs and longer bodies are add-ons for traps that stay outside for weeks.

Before printing, measure the mouth of your bottle or jar and compare it with the thread diameter given on the model page. Look at the entry hole size, the shape of the cone or funnel, and whether liquid can drain or be emptied without dismantling everything. Check the material and settings the author lists, since parts that sit outdoors in sun and rain behave differently from indoor prints, and see whether the model needs supports. Photos of real prints are the quickest way to judge wall thickness and how the threads came out.

If the first results are too narrow, try the words people use for the same object: hornet trap, yellow jacket trap, fly trap, bottle cap trap or insect trap. Related searches such as soda bottle adapter, jar lid insert, modular pest trap or rain cover for a trap often surface files that a single phrase misses. You can also search by the container instead of the insect, for example by bottle size or jar mouth diameter.

Decoy nests are a separate line of search: fake nest, wasp nest deterrent or low poly nest bring up models meant to hang rather than to catch. Combining a trap term with a mounting word, such as hanging, wall or fence, narrows results further.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

What container do these wasp traps need?
Many models are caps or adapters made for a standard soda bottle or a jar with a known mouth diameter. The thread size is usually stated on the model page, so measure your container before printing.
Which material holds up outdoors?
Authors often list a filament and settings on the model page, and outdoor parts are commonly printed in a material that tolerates sun and moisture better than plain PLA. Follow what the author specifies and check photos of printed parts.
Do these traps need supports?
It depends on the shape of the entry cone and the overhangs. Some caps print without supports, others have a roof or funnel that needs them; the model page usually says which case applies.
Can the same file catch flies as well as wasps?
Some modular designs are built for several insect types and let you change the entry part or the bait. Others are shaped around one insect, so read the description and the dimensions before choosing.
