Medieval Pauldrons: 3D Models and STL Files

This collection gathers 3D models of medieval shoulder armor, from plain plate shells to articulated scale pieces and spiked fantasy designs. Most files are made for 3D printing and are meant to be worn, painted or combined into a larger harness. It is a useful starting point if you are planning a costume, a LARP kit or a display piece. Polyzon does not confirm whether models are free, their price, license, official status, affiliation, safety or fitness. Check the current terms at the source.

Sobre la categoría

«Medieval Pauldrons: 3D Models and STL Files»

The models fall into a few groups. Historical plate pauldrons follow late medieval and 16th-century shapes, sometimes with fluting or a defined edge. Articulated scale and lamellar versions are built from many small overlapping plates that move with the arm. Fantasy designs add spikes, skulls or dragon-scale textures, and some listings group a shoulder piece with bracers, vambraces or a full harness.

Before printing, read the author's page for scale, part count and assembly. Check whether the pieces are split for a smaller build volume, how they join (pins, cord, elastic or glue), and whether supports are needed. Look at the material and layer settings the author lists, and at photos of real prints to judge wall thickness and how the surface takes paint or primer.

To narrow the search, try synonyms such as spaulder, shoulder armor, arm harness, vambrace or rerebrace, and pair them with a style or period. Related topics include scale mail, lamellar, brigandine, breastplate and helmet files, which often share the same scale and fastening system. Adding a use case, such as cosplay, LARP or display, helps separate wearable pieces from static ones.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

What is the difference between a pauldron and a spaulder?
The terms overlap and are used loosely. A pauldron usually covers the shoulder and part of the upper arm, while a spaulder is often a smaller piece protecting mainly the shoulder joint.
How do I scale a pauldron to fit my arm?
Measure the shoulder width and upper-arm circumference, then compare them with the dimensions the author lists. Many files are split into parts, so you can test one section first and adjust the scale before printing the rest.
Do articulated shoulder armor models need supports?
It depends on how the parts are oriented. Flat shells often print without them, while spiked or curved sections may need supports on overhangs. The author's page usually states the orientation and settings used.
Which material works for wearable shoulder armor?
PLA is common for display and costume pieces, while PETG or ABS-like filaments are often chosen where more flex is wanted. Check the material and settings listed by the author, and how the parts are joined.
