3D models for PM: stands, holders and mounts

The letters PM appear in machine model numbers, pistol designations and device names, and the collection reflects that mix: stands for lathes and mills, holders for spools and rolls, mounts for sensors, and stands or holsters for Makarov-pattern pistols. Because the term is ambiguous, the STL files here are easier to browse by what they attach to than by the name in the title. It shows which parts of a machine or device people model most often.

«3D models for PM: stands, holders and mounts»

The parts differ mainly in size and in how they carry load. Stands and bases for lathes and mills are broad, flat-bottomed pieces that sit on a bench or floor, while tool holders, gears and spindle supports are compact and shaped around a specific tool post, spindle or table slot. Spool and roll holders are simple brackets with a shaft or cradle, sensor mounts are small clips and plates, and pistol stands and holsters vary in angle and in how they retain the frame.

Before printing, compare the dimensions on the model page with the surface you are mounting to: hole spacing, shaft diameter, table slot width and the weight the part has to hold. Check how many pieces the model has and whether they are joined with screws, pins or glue, and read the author's notes on orientation, supports and material. Photos of real prints are the quickest way to judge whether thin arms, threads or snap fits came out as intended on a filament printer.

Search results widen quickly, so add the word for the part rather than the abbreviation alone: stand, base, mount, bracket, holder, rack, guard or clip. Pair it with what it attaches to, such as lathe, mill table, spindle, spool, air quality sensor or display, and try related terms like tool post, tailstock, cable chain or magazine. If you are looking for the pistol family, the words holster, grip and display stand usually separate those results from machine accessories.

FAQ

Domande frequenti

Why do results for PM look unrelated to each other?
The same two letters appear in machine model numbers, in pistol designations and in the names of measuring devices and sensors. One query therefore returns several different families of parts, and the titles alone rarely make the difference clear.
What should I measure before printing a stand or holder?
Measure the mounting surface, the hole spacing and the diameter of whatever passes through the part, then compare those figures with the dimensions listed on the model page. It also helps to note the weight the part will carry.
Do these parts usually need supports?
It depends on the overhangs and on how the author oriented the model. The model page and photos of finished prints show whether supports were used and where they were placed.
How can I narrow the search to one kind of PM part?
Add the name of the part and what it fits, for example lathe stand, mill table guard or sensor bracket. Combining a part word with a machine or device term removes most of the unrelated results.
