K2 PLUS – Top Spool Holder (Improved TPU Printing)

Sometimes, it is necessary to print with elastic materials such as TPU. To minimize the tension exerted by the extruder when feeding the filament, it is recommended to position the spool in a way that facilitates smooth feeding. The placement of the holder is just as important as the smoothness of the spool rotation; therefore, this model uses higher-quality, smoother bearings compared to the classic 698ZZ 8x19x6 mm bearings.

For this design, I have used a 6805-2RS ball bearing (25 x 37 x 7 mm). I have used this type in other similar assemblies, and the difference in smoothness and stability is remarkable.

Although not strictly necessary, the assembly can be reinforced with a copper tube 12 mm in diameter and 135 mm in length. This tube is inserted into the spool shaft cavity.

The model can be printed in any material, as it is only used when the printer's interior is not heated, such as when using TPU or PLA.
