Icosahedron Hanging Planter

I needed a hanging plant pot for a new Vining Mandevilla that fits in with the rest of my pots. I designed this Icosahedron shaped pot with holes for 1/4" rope I tied into a knot to prevent it from slipping out. The pot is hung from the ceiling with a pulley to make the height adjustable and give the plant something to grow up on.

The design turned out very nicely. Walls are thick to make them easily watertight. I did spray on a filler primer before painting to really seal any possible gaps.

The planter should scale very well for larger or smaller plants.

It has a small built in drip tray with vent holes that provide an overflow to prevent root rot and a grate so soil won't fall into the tray. The grate is made from bridges, and prints support free . The "ugly" side of the bridges isn't visible, since the pot is filled with soil. I just added an inside brim to make sure it stays on the build plate. Some glue stick would also work.
