🧩 Description

X-shaped 90° crossing track for Hot Wheels Track Builder layouts. Each branch is 200 mm long with high side walls (~24 mm) to help keep cars on track as they enter and exit the intersection. Great for figure-8 layouts, junctions and crash zones, while staying compatible with other HWTB straights, curves and connectors.

The geometry is tuned for predictable FFF printing and a clean, reliable snap-fit to the rest of the HWTB system. The project includes a presupported vertical print option if you prefer printing crossings upright.

🖨️ Printing orientation & tips (TRACK)

RECOMMENDED : Presupported.

Aligns layer lines along the track for strength and a smooth running surface.

SUPPORTS: REQUIRED for the upper surface in this orientation.

Use the included .3mf (preconfigured) — it contains the correct support setup for those surfaces.

If slicing the raw .stl, reproduce that support logic to maintain edge quality and durability.

Presupported vertical print

A vertical variant with built-in supports is also included. It’s useful if your printer handles tall, narrow prints well. For this mode, consider adding a brim for extra stability.

Adhesion: Add a brim only if first-layer grip is weak.

Adhesion: PEI smooth or textured sheet with glue stick or another adhesion aid recommended.

🛠️ Recommended settings (tracks)

Layer height: 0.20 mm

Walls / perimeters: 4

Infill: 20% (Gyroid)

Supports: Required as above (use the included .3mf config)

Brim: Optional

Filament: PETG (recommended) or PLA (PLA is fine for indoor play; for UV/outdoor use prefer PETG/ASA)

Perimeter engine: Arachne (variable line width) recommended

Fit tuning: If connections feel too tight/loose, adjust Horizontal Expansion (XY Compensation) ±0.05–0.15 mm (don’t scale the model).

📝 Notes

Matching connector: you can find the compatible connector among my other uploads.

L200 length per branch is a good compromise between compact layout and enough run-up to the crossing.

For consistent looks and friction, print all crossings and straights from the same filament batch.

After support removal, lightly deburr the upper rails with fine sandpaper if needed so cars don’t catch at the surfaces.
