Lady Liberty LED Lamp

Thanks for stopping by to check out another one of my models! I want to preface this by saying that largely was an experiment on my end to see if my idea of hollowing my existing Statue of Liberty model would work well with housing an LED in the base and printing Lady Liberty in the Translucent PETG.. turns out that yes, not only possible, but also pretty awesome looking!

Was there a better way to print this? Very likely so. The intent was to minimize the amount of parts, and make the print as simple as possible so you can just snap a few pieces together and be one. I will note that remove of the support material from the base of the statue is a bit tedious, especially depending on the material you print in. I have printed 8 of these and have been successful are removing the supports without breaking anything, but it does take a bit of time. I highly recommend a good pair of small snips to slowly make your way around. You should also cut the support around the arm/torch before fully removing it*

The LED light installation is literally a matter of pressing the LED001 kit lamp into the base (making sure to orient the cable with the cable recess so it can sit flush).

With that out of the way, the only other thing left to do is test fit the Statue onto the base (it is a simple/loose press fit) and turn on the light. I made 3 optional inserts/diffusers for those that want to really fine tune the brightness of the statue. These are completely optional, but if you want to experiment, they are in the same print profile on their own build plates.

The three options are as follows:

- Diffuser - Directed - this is the donut insert which is intended to reduce the inner diameter of the light pipe, concentrating the light more towards the inside of the statue and keeping the base/feet from glowing as much - Diffuser - Honeycomb (10%) - this honeycomb shaped diffuser not only directs the light towards the center, but also works to reduce some of the output if you feel like your lamp is too bright - Diffuser - Honeycomb (25%)

- this is a similar honeycomb diffuser, but with a finner infill pattern of 25%, which further reduces the light output if needed.

All three of the diffuser inserts just loosely press fit into the top.

The base of the statue prints very solid with a really fine infill to keep the light from shining through. The intent was to target only the doorways glowing, which can be seen if the room is fully dark.

The intent of this lamp was to use the Translucent PETG material, however, some quick test prints using Matte PLA, as well as GLOW Pla also turned out great results with an added flair of a faint glow after the lamp is turned off! Mix and match to your hearts content, I don't think you can go wrong with any filament choice!
