120mm fan drive cage

This is a drive cage that holds 4x 3.5" drives or 8x 2.5" drives within the footprint of a 120x120 fan. It can be installed in any case with a 120mm fan mount and can be easily stacked. Multiple120mm fans can be screwed into the back and/or left/right side of it for cooling, and caddies are included for easy install and removal.

Drive caddies are installed onto the HDD via up to 6x 6-32x1/4 HDD screws per drive. Shoulder screws meant for rubber grommets would also work if they were low profile enough to not protrude above the caddy. The cage takes 4x M3/M4 Threaded insert, then can be screwed onto a case with a fan in between with M3/4x30 screws.

To use 2.5" drives, use any dual 2.5" drive to single 3.5" drive adapter (see for example, this one used in my last two pictures. It relies on M3 screws for mounting the drive to the adapter and adapter to the caddy, and the holes are designed to be 2.8mm in diameter. You might have to widen it a bit). The caddy handle is designed to clear most two-drive adapters.

Caddies are locked into the cage via a pressure fit slope/ledge. Cage is designed to print in place. Caddy has holes in the z-axis. You can use support if you prefer. I recommend printing with materials with heat resistance in mind. Hard drives are heavy and computer can get warm. I had experience of mild deformation with PLA in the past.

Vented: has side rectangular cutout to save material and improve cooling, but the overhang at 45 degree angle may introduce artifacts.

Bottom mount: fan mount only at the bottom, see pic. 2

Side mount: fan mount on the left and right side of the cage so that it can be mounted on the front intake of a case. See last pic. The left and right side both have two sets of 4 holes, both are standard 120mm fan spacing so you can center of offset the cage.
