Описание

A saddle bag rear light strap mount for the Garmin Varia radar/light.

If your seat post doesn't have enough clearance to fit both a saddle bag and the Garmin Varia mount, then this mount is for you.

You will find three components in the print (all in the same plate): 2 different lock inserts (you only need to pick one of the two - read more below) that secure the mount and prevent the strap from falling off while riding, and the mount itself.

The mount is obvious, but why two different lock inserts? I have two different saddle bags. The rear side of one of the saddle bags has an upwards tilt, while the second saddle bag is flat. When installing the mount on the saddle bag with the flat rear side, damn gravity pulls the mount down, and you can end up with a downwards tilted radar like the one in this picture:

So I designed a slightly longer lock insert with a small barrel shaped barrel that extrudes at the rear of the mount, and pushes against the saddle bag to lift the radar to a flat position. See the picture below. The mount is the same - printed on different material in the picture above and below. The lock insert is the main difference in these two pictures.

So there you have it. Print the mount, and one of the two inserts depending on your saddle bag style, or print both and see which one you like most. It's a pretty cheap print anyway (around 10g of material).

How to use:

- Clip the main mount (larger of the two components) over the rear light strap of your saddle bag (most saddle bags have this thin strap)

- Plug the insert (pick which one of the two inserts fits your saddle bag style) to secure the mount in place (see pictures).

- Mount your Garmin Varia radar and enjoy your rides!

More info:

I printed this on PLA (mainly during prototyping), PETG, and ASA, and all worked fine. PLA looks best, but considering the part is going to be used outdoors and PLA is brittle and doesn't like sun, I would print the mount either with ABS/ASA or PETG. I printed the final version that I currently use on ASA. The ASA print is less polished (if any of you can “fix” a print profile that gives better-looking results on ASA, please post it over), but works great and it is very durable. ABS should also work but I haven't tried printing on it.

0.08mm layer, 4 walls, 100% infill You'll find 2x2 plates in this print profile - you only need to pick one to print.

You get :

- 2 plates optimized for PETG printing: - 1 plate where the mount “back” is thicker - 1 plate where the mount “back” is thinner - 2 plates optimized for ASA printing: - 1 plate where the mount “back” is thicker - 1 plate where the mount “back” is thinner If you don't plan to take the mount off your saddle bag often (or never), I would go with the “thick” version (more durable). The problem with the thick version is that once you lock the insert, it can be hard to pull it back out if needed. So if you plan to remove the mount from the saddle bag often, go with the thin version.
