Drybrush Dampening Pad and Ceramic Ink Palette Dock

This is a model designed to work as a dock for integrating some useful mini painting accessories with Gridfinity. Each round “dock” section takes up a 2x2GFU footprint.

The round dock's inner diameter is an 81mm cutout with a 12mm high lip. There are a few random accessories that happen to have ~80mm diameter sizes- these docks help keep them stable and organized.

The primary usage for my own personal workbench is with the pictured “TailaiMei” or “Yoseng” Makeup Brush Cleaning Pads (I get them on Amazon, they can be cleaned and last a long time). These are amazing for drybrushing! There are a bunch of rebranded tins floating around- mini painting brands market them as “drybrush dampening pads” sometimes too.  Try one if you haven't yet- If you get one that isn't branded for mini painters you will be surprised at how cheap they are!

I also love the “Jucoan Ceramic Watercolor Palettes” in these docks. These round ceramic palettes stack, have a lid, and just rule. I use them for washes, inks, or anything that I don't want in my wet palette. They happen to be almost the same size as the makeup pads, so they work well in this module too!

This model is part of my collection of 3D printed mini painting stuff, Paintfinity.

For all of my models in this collection, P1S and A1MINI sized prebuilt profiles are provided. No supports are used on anything in the collection, and it's been optimized for a 0.4mm nozzle with tuned wall thicknesses throughout.

I use 2 walls, 0.2mm height, 10% grid infill print settings for my included plate profiles. Lower infill percent with Gyroid or Lightning also work, but grid at 10% seems to always give me a great top surface quality for a little extra material+time.

I try to design models that work together to solve as many common pain points as possible. I've commission painted full time for the last 10 years, with an emphasis on large projects and armies. I've learned that there are a lot of small things that add up to a much smoother experience with these type of projects. These small optimizations can trickle down to benefit everything else you paint too!

I built my models around the standard 42mm Gridfinity unit with pockets for 6x2mm magnets. I made smooth-bottom NOGRID variants too! Gridfinity is an open source system originally created by Zach Freedman, make sure to check out Zach's other work!

61 Unique Models and 48 Variants for a total of 109 individual modeled objects!
