14U Gridfinity Bins for Dewalt Toughsystem Drawer

This is a set of Gridfinity 100mm tall (a hair under 14U tall)  storage bins sized to perfectly fit DeWalt ToughSystem 2.0 2-drawer organizers, using the Gridfinity base grids I have created.

These bins allow you to customize your tool containers and give you increased flexibility to store and organize your tools, compared to just tossing them in the drawer. With Gridfinity can give every tool its own home, using boxes like these or by making customized inserts to fit your tools and equipment (I will be posting more of these soon as I kit out my own ToughSystem units).

With the Gridfinity base grids pictured above, a 2-drawer ToughSystem unit supports 10.5 standard Gridfinity units across, and 6 units deep, giving you lots of layout options.

How to Use These Bins

First, print a set of Gridfinity base grids to fit your ToughSystem 2-drawer unit.

Decide how you want to organize your tools and supplies and print the bin sizes that suit your needs.

I have generated these bins to be about 100mm tall (which is about 14U ), so that they fit into the drawer and allow it to slide open and closed without catching. I have created bins in a variety of sizes, in whole sizes like 2x2 grid units, and fractional sizes like 3x2.5, to take full advantage of the available grid space in the drawer.

If you want to design your own bins, check out this excellent parameterizable Gridfinity generator model on MakerWorld. My recommendations are as follows:

- Set the “gridz” value to 100 and expand the Height section and set “gridz define” to “gridz is the overall external height of the bin in millimetres” - I also like to turn off the Scoop feature, but that is a personal preference. Mix and match bins and tool inserts

In addition to plain storage boxes, there are a huge variety of tool inserts available to print from many designers to fit tools from DeWalt, Milwaukee, and practically any other brand you can think of. And if someone else hasn't done it, there are tools online to help you make one your own. The possibilities are infinite.
