Overview
Tired of fighting your dog every time you try to brush their teeth? This Dog Dental Care Mouth Prop is designed to safely and gently keep your dog's jaw propped open, allowing you to easily access and clean the hard-to-reach rear molars. Inspired by professional veterinary tools, it features a stable bite shelf and an ergonomic outer ring for a secure grip.
📏 Sizing & Customization Guide
This model is fully customizable in all dimensions to fit any dog breed, from small terriers to extra-large retrievers. However, to get the perfect fit, you must measure your dog before printing:
- Muzzle Width: Measure the horizontal width of your dog's snout/jaw. Your print's inner opening needs to be slightly wider than this to clear their lips comfortably without pinching. - Bite Height (Opening Gap): Check how wide your dog can comfortably open their mouth without overextending or straining their jaw joint.
⚠️ CRITICAL PRINT SETTINGS (For Safety & Strength)
Dogs have immense jaw pressure. To ensure this tool does not crack, splinter, or break during use, do not use standard PLA and follow these specific slicer settings strictly:
- Material: PETG (Highly recommended for its flexibility and impact resistance. Unlike PLA, PETG deforms under high stress instead of shattering into sharp plastic shards). - Wall Loops: 5 - 6 - Top Shell Layers: 6 - Bottom Shell Layers: 6 - Infill Density: 60% - Infill Pattern: Gyroid 🚨 Important Safety & Hygiene Disclaimer
- Bacteria Trap: FDM 3D prints have microscopic layer lines and can get scratched by sharp dog teeth. These tiny crevices can trap canine saliva and bacteria, making the raw print difficult to sanitize completely over time. - Microplastics Risk: Sharp dog teeth scraping against raw, uncoated 3D-printed plastic can cause mechanical abrasion. This friction can shave off tiny microplastic particles that your pet might accidentally ingest during the brushing process. - Post-Processing Recommendation: For long-term use and peace of mind, it is highly recommended to sand the printed part and coat it with a certified food-safe, high-strength epoxy resin. This seals the layer lines, blocks microplastic shedding, and creates a perfectly smooth, glassy, and washable surface. - Alternative: If left raw, treat this as a short-term or limited-use item, check it constantly for signs of wear or shedding, and clean it thoroughly with pet-safe disinfectant after every single use. Never leave your dog unattended with this device.
