Propeller Launcher

The end of the school year was approaching, and I was thinking about what interesting things I could surprise the kids with for their report cards this year. I had recently read about special propellers that can effectively use aerodynamic lift, so I thought of creating something that could launch one.

I had already successfully tested an axle rotation mechanism using a pull cord for one of my older projects. These two concepts came together, and the idea was born. Because I like to create things that are not only functional but also visually appealing, I made sure the design remained clean and practical.

To assemble you will need (BOM):

- 2× 608 bearings (standard skateboard bearings) (3, 6) - String (length approx. 60 cm) - Super glue - Bead for the end of the string (optional, for a better and more comfortable grip)

Assembly Instructions:

- Installing the bearings: Insert the bearings into the handle (4) – bearing (3) from above and bearing (6) from below. - Installing the axle: Firmly push the axle (2) into the upper bearing (3) so that it also passes through the lower bearing (6). - Assembling the body: Glue part (1) to the top of the axle and the cap (7) to the bottom. - Attaching the string: Thread a string (approx. 60 cm long) through the hole in the axle (2) and secure it with a regular knot so that it does not slip. - Finishing: Place a larger bead on the other end of the string and tie a knot. Tips and Tricks:

Dot Orientation: The dot (5) on the handle indicates the correct side for winding the cord. The propeller will only take flight if wound this way; otherwise, it will simply spin in place.

Reversible Propeller: It does not matter which side of the propeller faces up when you attach it. It will always take off as long as the cord is wound on the side with the dot (5).

Automatic Rewind: If the cord is wound on the side without the dot, simply give it a quick pull and let go. It will automatically rewind itself onto the correct side.

⚠️ Important notes for safe playing:

- Flies high and far: Especially in windy conditions, the propeller can travel unexpectedly long distances. Choose an open area (without trees, roofs, or other obstacles). - Protect your face: Keep the toy away from your face when launching. The propeller reaches very high speeds during takeoff, so always maintain a safe distance to prevent injury.
