Parametric Thumb Screw Grip – Action Camera Mount

This is a parametric, print-in-place thumb screw grip designed for action camera mounts. It lets you turn any common M5 hex head bolt into a comfortable, tool-free tightening knob — no nut required. Simply drop in your M5 bolt, adjust the two built-in parameters, and print a grip that fits your exact setup. Perfect for replacing lost or broken GoPro / DJI mounting screws.

🛠️ Customizer Parameters (MakerWorld Customizer) The model exposes two intuitive OpenSCAD parameters so you can dial in the perfect fit:

- screwLength – the total length of your M5 bolt (measured from under the head to the tip). - threadLength – how much thread should protrude from the bottom of the grip; this is the part that will screw into your camera mount.

The script automatically calculates the correct head pocket depth and grip height. Just enter your values, generate, and print.

📦 What you need

- 1× M5 hex head bolt (ISO 4017 / DIN 933, 8 mm across flats). Hex head transfers torque reliably; socket head cap screws can work if the cylindrical head is a snug fit in the cavity, but hex is recommended. - The printed grip (single piece).
