Glow-in-the-Dark Ceiling Stars — 15-Piece Set A night sky for a kid's bedroom, printed flat and stuck straight to the ceiling. Printing The project file is set up for a Bambu Lab P1S with a 0.4 mm nozzle: 0.2 mm layer height 2 walls, 5 top / 3 bottom solid layers 15% grid infill Auto brim No supports At 2 mm thick that's ten layers, eight of them solid, so the pieces come out very nearly solid. That's what you want here — a denser part carries more glow pigment under the surface and reads brighter once the lights go off. Use glow-in-the-dark PLA. Green is the classic look and tends to be the brightest; blue and aqua work but usually glow dimmer. Worth knowing before you buy a spool: glow filament is loaded with strontium aluminate, which is abrasive and will wear a brass nozzle over time. The P1S stock stainless nozzle handles it fine, but if you plan to print a lot of it, a hardened nozzle is a sensible upgrade.

Mounting Removable adhesive dots or strips on the back of each piece. The parts weigh next to nothing, so one dot per star is usually plenty; give the moon and the planet two or three. Adhesive dots lift off a painted ceiling cleanly, which matters if you're renting or if the kid changes their mind about where Saturn goes. Press each piece for a few seconds so the adhesive grabs. On a textured ceiling, warm the dot between your fingers first.

Layout tips

Lay the whole set out on the floor before anything goes up — far easier to nudge a star around on carpet than to peel one off a ceiling. Put the moon and planet off-centre rather than dead middle, cluster the medium stars loosely instead of spacing them evenly, and point both shooting stars the same general direction so they read as movement. Concentrate the arrangement over the bed, since that's where it actually gets looked at.

Charging the glow Bright light charges them faster and brighter than dim light — a sunny window through the day, or a few minutes under a lamp before bed. The glow is strongest in the first stretch after charging and fades gradually through the night. How long it holds depends on your filament and how well it was charged, so run one piece first and see what your brand does.
