ABC Match Puzzle | Uppercase & Lowercase + Box

This alphabet puzzle was designed to make learning uppercase and lowercase letters more tactile, playful and interactive.

The complete set contains 26 uppercase and 26 lowercase pieces , creating all 26 matching pairs from A–Z — 52 puzzle pieces in total .

Children can find the matching letters, feel and trace their shapes with a finger, connect the correct pair and sort everything back into the included storage box.

🧩 The connector does NOT give away the answer

One important part of the design is that every single letter pair uses the same puzzle connection .

There is no special connector for A+a, another one for B+b, and so on.

That is intentional.

The child cannot solve the game simply by matching different puzzle shapes. They actually have to recognize the uppercase letter and find its corresponding lowercase letter .

The connector confirms the match physically — but the learning task remains focused on the letters themselves.

✋ Raised letters for finger tracing

The letters are raised above the surface of the puzzle pieces .

This allows children to slowly trace each letter with a finger and become familiar with its lines, curves and overall shape.

That makes the pieces useful for more than matching: they can also be used for simple finger-tracing and pre-writing activities .

For example:

Find the uppercase E → trace it → find the lowercase e → trace it → connect the pair.

This combines visual recognition, touch and matching in one simple activity.

📦 Storage included

The project includes a custom storage box with two separate compartments , making it easy to keep uppercase and lowercase pieces organized.

A matching lid with an ABC abc design keeps the complete set together when playtime is over.

The final version has been physically test printed .

The puzzle fit, lid fit and storage capacity were tested with the complete alphabet, and all 52 pieces fit inside the box .

🖨️ Printing information

The included 3MF is prepared for:

0.4 mm nozzle 0.20 mm layer height PLA 3 walls 15% Grid infill No supports required

The alphabet plates use a simple color change at approximately Z = 3.2 mm .

This means the puzzle bodies can be printed in one color and the raised letters in another without constant filament changes.

No AMS required for the alphabet pieces

An AMS is not required for the letter plates.

A simple manual filament change when the raised letters begin works perfectly.

Optimized two-color lid

The colored ABC abc detail in the lid is only 0.4 mm deep .

This was deliberately optimized after test printing so the printer does not unnecessarily alternate between both colors throughout the entire lid.

An AMS or another multicolor system is convenient for the lid, but it can of course also be printed completely in one color.

🎨 Make it your own

I used yellow and black for strong contrast, but almost any color combination will work.

Try pastel colors, rainbow groups, school colors, monochrome versions or simply use your child's favorite colors.
