Gridfinity Riser: Lift Any Bin, 1x1-6x6, 1U-12U

A spacer that lifts a Gridfinity bin, or a block of bins, by a whole number of units. Gridfinity feet underneath, so it sits on any baseplate. A baseplate socket on top, so any bin drops in. Risers stack on risers.

The U in the profile name is the lift, not the height of the part. A 6U bin on a 1U riser stands level with a 7U bin next to it. The riser itself is 4.75 mm taller than its lift, so a 1U riser is 11.75 mm tall.

What it is for

- Level a mixed row. Short bins go on risers and every top ends up in one plane. - Easier to pick up. A short bin between taller ones is hard to get hold of. Raised level, its rim is right there and it lifts straight out. - No play in a Gridfinity box. In a lidded box or carry case, a short bin has room above it and can shift. On a riser its top meets the lid like the taller bins, and nothing moves in transit. - Step your bench. Put what you reach for most at the top. Design

- Open frame. Every cell is a through shaft, so the riser is light and prints without supports at any height. - Magnets, optional. Pockets for 6 x 2 mm discs in every cell corner, top and bottom. Stacked risers hold each other, and the stack holds a magnetic baseplate. The top pockets have a lip, so lifting a bin cannot pull a magnet out. The magnets do not carry the bin, so the lift is the same with the pockets empty. Included profiles: one 3MF per lift

1U to 12U. Lift = U x 7 mm, part height = lift + 4.75 mm (1U is 11.75 mm tall, 12U is 88.75 mm).

Each file holds 21 plates, one footprint per plate, 1x1 up to 6x6. A rotated size is the same part, so the plate "3x2 (= 2x3)" is both. Open the lift you want, keep the plates you need, delete the rest.

Print notes

- No supports. Feet down, as placed. - PLA or PETG. The profile is the 0.2 mm layer profile for a 0.4 mm nozzle (Bambu Lab H2C), 2 walls, 15% infill, with only hole compensation turned on. Same nozzle as the test prints. - The magnet fit depends on the nozzle. If you re-slice for another nozzle, try one 1x1 first. - Magnets are 6 x 2 mm discs, pressed in by hand, no glue. - 6x6 is 251.5 x 251.5 mm. Check your bed before you print a big one. - Big footprints are long prints: a 6x6 is about 182 g / 22 h at 1U and 1056 g / 123 h at 12U; a 1x1 is 5.3 g / 45 min at 1U and 36.9 g / 4 h 24 min at 12U. Tiling 2x2 or 3x3 risers prints sooner and risks less. Boost Me If this riser evens up your bins, or stops them rattling around in a box, please consider giving it a Boost! It helps me keep making practical Gridfinity parts like this for the MakerWorld community. Thank you!

How to print

21 plates, one riser per plate: 1x1, 2x1, 2x2, 3x1, 3x2, 3x3, 4x1 ... up to 6x6. A rotated size is the same part, so the plate named "4x2 (= 2x4)" covers both. Every plate in this file lifts the bin by 1U (7 mm) and is 11.75 mm tall; the other lifts are separate profiles. Keep the plates you want and delete the rest.

Feet are on the bed, no supports needed at any size. The profile is the stock 0.20 mm Standard with only hole compensation turned on. Magnets (6 x 2 mm) press into the top and bottom pockets by hand, no glue; leave them empty if you do not want magnets.
