Renault/Dacia Key replacemement

I got my Renault Megane Etech and the key they give you with it made me sick. its huge and they give you a leather case so you can put it on your keychain but its yust redicilous.

Inspired by this post on the EV forums ( and this thingiverse design ) i started designing my own key replacement and this is it.

Im very pleased with the design, at first i didnt expect to make the buttons function but with precise the design it works great in the end!

Also very happy with how tight i was able to make the snap fit. it takes some pressure to snap the parts together but im confident it wont fall apart if you drop your keys.

in order to get the mainboard out of the original key you need to slide the cover off to expose the spare key.

set asside the spare key and the battery.

Then the tricky part, removing the white plastic that keeps the mainboard in place, this is a challange to get out in 1 piece.

if you can do this without damaging it then the process is 100% reverseable.

It is possible as also shown on this design but i didnt manage it.. so when i return the car in 5 years (its a lease) i either gonna give them my 3d print or i will restore the key using hot glue and pray they dont notice it.

put the mainbord in the body and put the battery in its place.

Snap the lit on top of the battery. its a tight snap! i like it that way okay!

if you want to open it there is a slit to put a flat screw driver in and twist it open.

It is possible to design it to get the spare key inside the case, but with how tight the case is to open i did not like the way that design was going.

i yust put the spare key on my keyring with the hole in it.
